About School

Guru yoga peeth is one of the new schools in Rishikesh, being opened in the year 2016. The school provides 200 hours and 300 hours residential yoga teacher training from its campus in Tapovan, Rishikesh. The school is affiliated with Yoga Alliance USA and offers Yoga Teacher Training Course in Goa as well.

The primary means of instruction is English and the students are expected to let the management know about any prior disease they are suffering from. There are a total of 4 full time yoga teacher training faculties in the school.


The school is located near Tapovan area, very close to Tapovan -Badrinath national highway. Please ensure that you have read the directions carefully. If you book through us, we will drop you at the school. If you are approaching the school otherwise, please arrive at Syndicate Bank, Tapovan Rishikesh and call the manager to guide you for further directions.


There are 16 rooms available. All the rooms offered are AC rooms. Usually a batch cosists of less than 15 students. The school makes separate accommodation arrangement if the number of students exceeds the rooms available at the school. The rooms are located on the ground, first and the second floor. The price quoted is for private accommodation.

Please note that students are allowed to stay in the school only 1 day prior to the course start date. If you are arriving at the school earlier, please notify the school in advance. Extra stay and extra meals are chargeable.

Yoga hall

The Yoga hall is located on the terrace of the building and up to 20 students can practice in the hall at the same time. The students are free to use the hall in their free time. The schools also operates jointly with Maayaa healing center and the hall is also used by the students who wish to learn the sound healing techniques. If you would like to participate in the sound healing session, you can learn and observe or practice in the same hall.

Dining hall

The non A.C. dining hall is located at the lower ground floor and maximum 10 students can dine at the same time. The kitchen is attached with the dining hall.


The school provides their students with hygienic and well prepared organic ayurvedic food. This food is served according to the principles of Ayurveda, and the school expects the students to be fully devoted and obey all guidelines and disciplines of the yogic path during their courses so that they may get the best benefits.

Ayurvedic Doctors (Vaidyas) do a weekly health check of all the students so that changes can be made in their personal diets to correct any health aberration or anomaly.

Everyday food menu is fixed by the management. The school has listed the varieties available and meals are prepared according to the list. The school serves three meals and two teas a day. 

Breakfast: Porridge, bread toast/ jam, sprouted beans, Aloo Parantha or any other veg paranthas.

Lunch: Rice, Chapati, Lentils curry, yogurt, salad, vegetables.

Dinner: Chapati, vegetables, lentils curry, salad.

Class size

The class size is small and usually there are around 4-5 students in a batch. The school has capped the maximum number of students in a batch at 15.

Payment and cancellation

You can confirm your seat after making 10% of the total fees as advance payment. The rest of the fees is payable directly at the school. The school accepts fees in cash/ credit card at the school. All major currencies are accepted at the school.

The advance payment is refundable if the cancellation is done before one week of the course start date. There are no refunds if the cancellation is done in the preceding week of course start date.

  • No alcohol or any other intoxicating substance consumption.
  • Scheduled check out is the day after the completion of the course. Extra stay is chargeable.
  • Check out time is 12:00 PM.

About the course:

The school runs 300 hours Yoga teacher training program throughout the year. The 300 hours yoga teacher training program is designed for students who wish to stay and learn for 28 days at the school campus. After completing the course, the students are awarded with a certificate recognized by the yoga alliance U.S. Afterwards, the students can undertake yoga teaching practice after receiving the certificate.

Dr. Mukesh’s passion is to cure masses by reaching out to the wider section of society further flourishes on national TV and All India Radio wherein he divulges the secret of healthy living and aspire to heal ailments in most natural and Ayurvedic centric methods. Dr. Sharma also featured in general health promotional ad campaigns.

Guruji Rishi

Rishi, who is a mind therapist and yoga instructor, clinical hypnotherapist, and an energetic alignment practitioner. He is a master for mind therapies and heal people by using various techniques like hypnosis, yoga, pranayama, and meditation, working directly on the subconscious levels. The process is done in an effortless manner and helps to recover with issues quickly.

Yogi Om Dwivedi

Om was born and raised in the holy town of Rishikesh the world Yoga capital. Since the age of 14, he has learned various forms of Yoga from different parts of India. He has spent a good time of his life practicing Yoga.  Yogi Om Dwivedi is a trained faculty in multi Yoga Hatha, Kundalini, Ashtanga yoga teacher training in Rishikesh. He is attached to the Sacha lineage in Sacha Dham Ashram from the age of 14 years. Om Dwivedi is an internationally renowned Yoga spiritual master and he has trained about 3000+ Yoga teachers across the world in his career as a Yoga Guru.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga teaches the practice of different asanas. It is the branch of Indian philosophy that directs not only towards building a sound body and mind but also towards achieving inner peace and happiness. Asanas or postures in Hatha Yoga strengthen different parts of body and develop the balance of the body.

Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga, the yoga of Eight Limbs was given by Yoga Maharshi Patanjali. In his philosophy, the eight spiritual practices can lead a person towards self-realization and ultimate happiness.
The eight limbs are: Yama (Moral Codes), Niyama (Self-Purification), Asana (Posture), Pranayama (Breath Control), Pratyahara (Sense Control), Dharana (Concentration), Dhyana (Meditative Absorption) and Samadhi (Absorption into Universe).

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa denotes a flowing, dynamic form of yoga, connected to breath or pranayama in which yoga and mudra transitions are embodied as linkages within and between asana.Vinyasa is also employed as a noun to describe the sequence of poses that are performed between Adho Mukha Svanasanas or Downward Facing Dog as part of a Surya Namaskara or Sun Salutation sequence.

Very nice and Hygiene place for yoga teacher training course. They Teach Traditional yoga. they have very good Different Teachers for Different Subjects. they have small Retreats like yoga and meditation , yoga and Ayurveda. the retreats are very relaxing and rejuvenating. food is Fresh and Vegetarian. Rooms are very Neat and Clean. its really recommended.

I was at guru yog peeth in Nov, 2016 for 200 hours yttc and i was really surprised the level of dedication they showed towards their student, very experienced teachers were taking our classes be it ashtanga, hatha, pranayam, vinyasa, or ayurveda,
I went in expecting tasteless food will be given but they kept on surprising me with some very interesting satvic food.
i would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for experienced teachers 🙂
