Vedic Yoga Center was founded in the year 2004 by Yoga teacher Shailendra Singh Negi. Apart from the 200 hours Yoga teacher training course, the school runs several other yoga as well as Ayurveda programs. The school runs Yoga Teacher Training programs twice a year.
The class size is small and usually there are 10 to 15 students in a batch. If you prefer to practice yoga in a small batch, this school may be the right choice for you. English is the primary language of instruction and students are required to have a basic understanding of English language prior to enrolling in the course.
The focus of this 7 Day Samyak Kriya & Meditation Retreat is the development of your inner channels of energy for the purpose of aligning your body, energy, mind and emotions. When these four aspects are aligned, a person can reach a state where they are much less affected by the everyday impacts of the world. Only when the body, energy, mind and emotions are in a state of harmony can you truly experience life on a moment-to-moment basis. Samyak Kriya is a technique to gently fine-tune the inner layers of your body, energy, mind and emotions. It is a method of yoga which awakens the prana (energy) of the body and makes you aware of the life force within. It brings your mind to a state of equilibrium and prepares you for stillness.
For this one week you will take part in daily kriya and meditation classes which will help you establish a regular practice. The sessions will use a combination of theory and practical experience to help consolidate this practice.

His first diploma was earned at the Shukhdevanand Yoga and Nature Cure College at Rishikesh, followed by studies at the Gurukul University in Haridwar where he successfully attained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Consciousness and Yogic Science. In 2005 he established the Vedic Yoga Centrein Laxman Jhula, Rishikesh and began his true calling as a teacher. His qualifications include classical yoga therapy, yoga philosophy, nutrition, naturopathy and Ayurveda therapy.
I did not stay here, as I already had a room nearby. I had a 2 week Ayurvedic package which included daily massage, daily warm oil poured on forehead, other assorted treatments, all food and medications; all administered by Rajendra. He was wonderful!! Also included was daily yoga class and Kirtan, led by Shailendra. What a wonderful family and location!!
When I arrived to Rishikesh It was difficult to me find somewhere where feel calm and peacefull because there are so many places! but no one like vedic yoga centre, and not only because the peace and calm, but also and most important, because of the energy the yoga master Shalinder gives to all guest and students. Thank you from my heart

Every time when I come to India to the Himalayas, I stop in this place. Firstly because it is a home of my friend and my Yoga teacher Shailendra Negi, and secondly this place is a very quiet and comfortable and I feel at home there, or as when I was a child in the village of my grandmother.
It is a pleasant place, perfectly suited for the Yoga practice and simply to stay in a proper atmosphere.
If you need assistance in organizing a taxi or hike, you will get full support from the best manager in Rishikesh – Rajendra Negi !!!
My best recommendations for this place!
I spend 45 days there attending the Yoga Teacher Training. It was everything just perfect! The room was excellent, very sunny with a beautiful balcony and views to Ganga. Also very spacious, good for my everyday practice. Food…OMG…so yummy and full of love. The Yoga Teacher Training was life changing…I am so glad that I have met Shailendra and his whole beautiful family that makes the place so welcoming. I can’t wait to go back with my husband and daughters.
My time in India was meant to be a time of self study, so I needed somewhere quiet to have my own practice. Vedic Yoga center was that place. It was just a few minutes to all the main restaurants and classes of Lakshman Jhula, but in the opposite direction so less crowded and noisy. I could even go for walks in the morning and not hear a single car horn, an amazing thing to find in india, and have beautiful views of the Ganges.
If you need a quiet place to stay in Rishikesh with access to a kitchen, I highly recommend Vedic. The rooms are beautiful, huge beds, and reasonably priced. My private room and shower was the same price as the dorm in the main hostel on Lakshman Jhula. Don’t go to hostels when you can have so much more, plus privacy, for the same price. I had a wonderful experience staying at Vedic for 2 months. Yoga classes, massages, and ayurvedic treatments also happen. And their yoga classes are one of the few in Rishikesh that incorporate kundalini work and kriyas.
There are fruit and vegetable stands just a few steps away and the kitchen was stocked with pots, a kettle, bowls, plates and everything you would need to cook. Plus they give all of your veggie scraps to the cow and I love that nothing got wasted. Permaculture!
Wonderful experience and lovely family that runs this place! (and free wi-fi!
