About School

Chandra yoga international was founded by Yogi Sushil, a PhD in yoga philosophy. He is the chief resident yoga instructor and oversees the yoga courses conducted  in the school along with his team of expert yoga instructors. More than 2000 students have received training under the guidance of the faculty from Chandra Yoga International.

The school has a sprawling campus owned by the Yoga Niketan Ashram and is situated right on the banks of River Ganga. Those who want to practice yoga in open space and near to the holy river can choose this school. Yoga Teacher training programs are conducted in English.

Location

The school is located near Tapovan area. Please ensure that you have read the directions carefully. If you book through us, we will drop you at the school. If you are approaching the school otherwise, please arrive at Syndicate Bank, Tapovan Rishikesh and call Yogi Sushil to guide you for further directions.

Accomodation

There are 20 rooms available. All the rooms offered are standard Non AC rooms. However, AC rooms are available on request. The school makes separate accommodation arrangement if the number of students exceeds the rooms available at the school. The rooms are located on the ground and the first floor. The price quoted is for private accommodation.

Please note that students are allowed to stay in the school only 1 day prior to the course start date. If you are arriving at the school earlier, please notify the school in advance. Extra stay and extra meals are chargeable.

The rooms are on the first and second floor. Each room is equipped with a queen sized bed and hot water facility. 

Yoga Hall

The Yoga halls are located on Ground floor of the school building. Upto 20 students can practice in the yoga hall.

Dining hall

The A.C. dining hall is located at the ground floor and maximum 20 students can dine at the same time. 

Food

Everyday food menu is fixed by the management. The school has listed the varieties available and meals are prepared according to the list. The food prepared is Satvic and vegetarian. The school serves three meals and two teas a day. 

Class size

The class size is small and usually there are around 15-20 students in a batch.

Payment and cancellation

You can confirm your seat after making 10% of the total fees as advance payment. The rest of the fees is payable directly at the school. The school accepts fees in cash/ credit card at the school. All major currencies are accepted at the school.

The advance payment is refundable if the cancellation is done before one week of the course start date. There are no refunds if the cancellation is done in the preceding week of course start date.

  • Scheduled check out is the day after the completion of the course. Extra stay is chargeable.

Course Details
About the course:

The school runs 200 hours Yoga teacher training program throughout the year. The 200 hours yoga teacher training program is designed for students who wish to stay and learn for 28 days at the school campus. After completing the course, the students are awarded with a certificate recognized by the yoga alliance U.S. Afterwards, the students can undertake yoga teaching practice after receiving the certificate.

During this course the student will learn the basics of yogasana, pranayama, and meditation. Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra will be discussed and referred to as the foundation philosophical and guiding text of this course. The school will discuss anatomy of the body as it relates to yoga, so that students can understand what muscles are being used in each asana and how they can help their future students. Students will learn about the business of yoga as well. Teaching methodology will be discussed and students will learn how to observe others bodies in order to gently correct their postures. The school will also teach about subtle energy anatomy including chakras, nadis, and kundalini.

The course curriculum of the 200 hours yoga teacher training course includes:

  • Teaching Methodology of different styles of yoga – Patanjali Ashtanga, Traditional & Classical Hatha, Vinyasa, Shivananda etc.
  • Method, principle, sequencing, adjusting, benefits and cautions of Yoga postures.

Instructors

Dr. Sushil Yogi

(Patanjali Ashtanga Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Meditation, Classical & Traditional Hatha Yoga Teacher)

Dr. Sushil Yogi was born in Rishikesh, on the holy banks of the Ganges River, in the foothills of the Himalayas. The founder of Chandra Yoga International organization and a highly qualified yoga teacher, he has a Ph.D. (Doctorate) in Human consciousness and yogic science. Dr. Sushil Yogi also has a two year Masters Degree in Yoga Science (M.Sc.), a one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Yoga, a one-year Diploma in Vedic Karmkand and a three-year B.Sc. Degree, from Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar, India.

Dr. Sushil Yogi received his primary education in an Indian school based in ancient tradition – Gurukulam. In this system, students study great ancient Indian scriptures such as the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Geeta and Yoga Sutras, as well as the Sanskrit language. Along with the general education, importance is placed upon daily Yoga Practice, Meditation, Yagya (Fire Ceremony) and services to Gurus (teachers).

Sandy

(Traditional Hatha & Ashtanga Yoga Teacher)

Sandy is an experienced yoga instructor and devoted yogini thoroughly skilled in the core areas of traditional Hatha. She has dedicated her life towards training yoga enthusiasts to become meticulous and caring yoga instructors. Students often say they can see yoga in every aspect of her life. Sandy strongly believes yoga is a superb health regimen that should be accessible to all people so they can explore the immense benefits of yoga, and she makes this obvious in her welcoming classes through the comprehensive use of props along with many variations. She has shared her rich knowledge and passion of yoga in USA, India, Laos, and Mongolia. Students enjoy her interactive yoga classes and balanced way of calming and challenging them in class, always giving invaluable time to appreciate the gift of breath.

Aravind

(Traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa & Hatha Yoga Teacher)

Aravind is a veteran practitioner and yoga instructor in the core traditions of Ashtanga Vinyasa. He has gained wider insight into yoga by practicing since the tender age of 15 when he attended a 1-month yoga course with his father at Isha Yoga Foundation in Tamil Nadu, India. Since then he has deepened his studies and discovered the ultimate power of yoga with infinite gratitude for his teachers: Vijay Amar, Vari Morales, Kura, and also Ajay Kumar. Students have said that he has a keen eye for noticing alignment, corrections, and how to strengthen and deepen their personal practice, sharing his rich experience and knowledge in an effective way. Aravind empowers yoga enthusiasts and people to develop their self-practice and become thoughtful teachers, so his training extends far beyond just one month of YTTC sessions and actually follows them throughout life.

Siddhartha Veer

(Philosophy Teacher)

Born in a traditional Indian family, Siddhartha Veer grew up around temples and ashrams of great sage Neem Karoli Baba. The childhood touch with these ashram visits and wanderings in Himalayan foothills gave him deep spiritual connection and thorough understanding of the ancient Vedic wisdom. As a significant addition to his past and present life Samskaras, he had the opportunities to get in touch with the masters in the Yogic and the Vedantic traditions.

Siddhartha Veer got in touch with Swami M.M Swami Veda Bharati who has been a great Vedic Scholar of this century. Being highly influenced with Swami M.M Swami Veda Bharati, Siddhartha Veer lived in his presence for some years studying on Yoga, Vedanta and practicing many methods of meditation. This made a higher impact on him leading to a deep interest in the art of Yoga and meditation as he took Deeksha(initiation) from Swami Veda Bharati and started living in Rishikesh by Mother Ganga to further Self-Realisation. Siddhartha Veer hail from a tourism background and living in Rishikesh, often nicknamed “Yoga Capital of the World”, complete with scenic beauty, spellbound picturesque landscape and mysticism have inspired him to teach Yoga Philosophy, meditation, Pranayama and meditative chants.

Through his intuitive insight and comprehensive style of teaching he takes his students on an entirely different level of understanding, which shows his vast dedication towards Yoga. As his master has said to many- “The world has a misery, the world has suffered. Do what you can, to reduce the pain. Do what you can, to soothe their minds.”

Yogi Deepak Payal

(Asana Teacher)

A scholar from a renowned yoga institute “kaivalyadhama” Lonavla, Pune, he is an expert Yoga practitioner and a socialist practicing yoga from the early days after finishing his school. Having an in-depth and rich experience in Yoga, he has been working with many yoga organizations namely “Aatm Yogashala” and “International Vedic Yoga Center”. A social firm NGO looking into the causes of child education and welfare, located in the holy city of Rishikesh is running under his guidance since 2013. He has been actively involved in spreading the fundamentals and basics of yoga via the Foundation of a yoga school in Rishikesh.

 

Yogi Rakesh

(Anatomy Teacher)

Yogi Rajesh believes beauty is held in every moment, and a smile can connect, create, and calm. And that we all can leave a mark, no matter how small, to help make the world a better place.

Yogi Rakesh is an Anatomy Teacher. He has done his Diploma in Anatomy & Philosophy and also Diploma in Ayurveda.

He has been serving his knowledge of Yoga Anatomy & Yoga Therapy for the last two years. His experience of teaching several types of students & people has taken him to another level of teaching.

 

His gentle behavior towards students makes him a good Explainer as well.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga teaches the practice of different asanas. It is the branch of Indian philosophy that directs not only towards building a sound body and mind but also towards achieving inner peace and happiness. Asanas or postures in Hatha Yoga strengthen different parts of body and develop the balance of the body.

Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga, the yoga of Eight Limbs was given by Yoga Maharshi Patanjali. In his philosophy, the eight spiritual practices can lead a person towards self-realization and ultimate happiness.
The eight limbs are: Yama (Moral Codes), Niyama (Self-Purification), Asana (Posture), Pranayama (Breath Control), Pratyahara (Sense Control), Dharana (Concentration), Dhyana (Meditative Absorption) and Samadhi (Absorption into Universe).

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa denotes a flowing, dynamic form of yoga, connected to breath or pranayama in which yoga and mudra transitions are embodied as linkages within and between asana.Vinyasa is also employed as a noun to describe the sequence of poses that are performed between Adho Mukha Svanasanas or Downward Facing Dog as part of a Surya Namaskara or Sun Salutation sequence.

I made the decision to do my advanced YTT in India with Chandra Yoga International because I wanted to experience India and traditional yoga. I am so glad I did. Dr Sushil and his team are amazing. They were very hospitable and went above and beyond to make my stay in India a memorable one. I learnt so much about India, traditional yogic philosophy, meditation and more. The ashram was also amazing. The people are so friendly and helpful, and the accommodation and food was much better than I’d expected.

I completed my RYT-200 with Dr. Sushil at his Dharamsala location in June 2015. The asana and anatomy workshops were done by Emily Young, a talented instructor who really brought the principles of Yoga into her everyday interactions. The philosophic, pranayama practices, and meditative aspects of the course were done by Dr. Sushil, the head teacher of this school. Dr. Sushil is a knowledgeable and helpful teacher. The staff is tremendously friendly and the experience I had was practically flawless. I enjoyed it thoroughly and intend to visit Dr. Sushil and his team when I go back to India. Highly recommend for RYT-200 TTC.

I participated at the Dharamsala location and it was an amazing experience. I loved the location and the Tibetan culture. We were a walking distant from the Dali llama temple which was spectacular. Besides the location the teachers were inspiring, welcoming, and fun! I learned so much from the teachers and the classes we took, I am a new-improved me! The only downside was the water would randomly turn off and the side note that I don’t like Indian food but there is plenty of cute places to eat in town that is tourist recommended. I say if you’re thinking about joining, do it. You won’t regret it! Thank you to Dr. Sushil and the team!
