Acharya Vinay was born into a Brahmin family where yoga was a household virtue and his grandfather passed his legacy to his father in form of traditional values of yoga, astrology and dharma. He started studying the scriptures on Veda, Upanishads and Yoga under his father at the early age of 12. It is still a tradition in India, that such disciplines are passed on from generation to generation. The seeds were sown very early, but as like every seed, it took time to ripe out. It got ripe with the initiation by his Guru Yogi Rudranath of Himalayas and acharya was inclined towards a spiritual outlook of life.
Amazing adventure.such a Kind and modest family.. very generous and great teachers. I would definitely come back
Really had such an amazing time at Jeevmoksha! The people there are all so warm and hospitable!! Teachers are excellent, experienced and sincere!!! I’ve gained so much more from this experience than what I’ve expected! Although this is my first YTT and I have no basis for comparison, I personally feel that jeevmoksha is a fantastic school!!! Besides learning about yoga practice techniques, yoga philosophy and healthy habits (which are all amazing btw), I could feel the improvement in my physical body in my one month stay!! My posture is so much straighter, I can sit much taller, my breathing is stronger and steadier, physically stronger and more… I’ve gained many new perspectives as well!!! I’m definitely viewing yoga in a different light now! Really enjoyed myself thoroughly in Jeevmoksha! It’s a great one month of my life!!! 🙂 ❤
I attended Jeevmoksha in July, and it has been nothing but an amazing life changing experience. It not only provided me a new insight to Yoga, but also allowed me to meet amazing people from the school and all over the world who shares the same piece of mind! I miss there already and would highly recommend anyone to go there!
Even before getting to Jeevmoksha, my experience with them was positive: they offer scholarship on a first-come-first-serve basis and are responsive to e-mail inquiries. Arranging for taxi pick up is a huge help. The school itself is in a nicely remote place from where the town is reachable on foot in 25 mins. The detailed 200h TTC schedule was given to us on the first day, and it included philosophy, anatomy, asana classes, pranayama, chanting, shitkarma practices, and meditation taught by exceptionally competent, authentic, and friendly teachers who’re dedicated to convey as much knowledge as possible during the training. It’s definitely a place to go if for no other reason but to get to know these people better and learn from them.
What I’d suggest as room for improvement is to endeavor to stick to the schedule at all times. For example, if a teacher is unable to give a class, have someone substitute them; have all points covered in the schedule; and be perhaps a little more demanding with homework and assignments, so we feel that there is a healthy degree of supervision.
At last, staying in Jeevmoksha proved to be one of the best decisions of my life and I can sincerely recommend it to everyone open to new things, looking for deepness and the overall “yoga feeling”.
I stayed at Jeevmoksha for one month doing my 200Hr YTT. It was indeed a life-changing experience being exposed daily to everything yoga in the world’s yoga capital city: from intense sweaty Ashtanga Vinyasa practice in the morning, followed by either pranayama lessons or Shatkarma, then Patanjali yoga philosophy lessons after breakfast, anatomy lessons after lunch followed by alignment-based asana lessons and yoga nidra, meditation or satsang in the evening. We even had day trips to caves, temples and places of interest around the town for a more in depth exposure to yoga.
What I love most about the program is undoubtedly the teachers! Being a medical student, I admire Vinayji’s comprehensive scientific approach to teach the ancient yogic discipline. He is such a calm, wise and compassionate soul who gave me so much comfort being around. Umesh helped me discover the strength and dedication I didn’t know I had. Arpit’s precision in teaching yoga alignment profoundly influences my current yoga teaching style.
I also love the city, filled with so much peace and humility in the chaos. I would definitely be back here, either to do my further trainings, to walk along the Ganga, to breathe in the breath-taking mountainous background, to find myself a lil of the yogic inner peace. I’m immensely thankful for the whole experience.
