I highly recommend Om Shanti Om for many reasons: the classes are very good (and this shows with the always full classes), the knowledge of Yogi Dinesh and other teachers, the kindness of the staff and the crew, and the love and happiness that was shared during my stay at the school. Great quality, good vibes. Thank you Dinesh and Priya!

I just finished my 200h yoga teacher training with Om Shanti Om Yoga School and can highly recommend it to everyone who is looking for a school in Rishikesh. Yogi Dinesh and his wife Priya always greeted us with a big smile and created a very positive environment which made us all bond as a group easily. The general group size was rather big, we were twenty people doing the 200h, plus a few people doing the 100h and sometimes also the ones from the 7-day retreat were in some of the classes. Even though the group was rather big we all learned a lot. We had a great variety of teachers for Philosophy, Pranayama, Ayurveda, Meditation and Yoga Asanas. Especially Yogi Dinesh is a great teacher, he knows exactly where to correct you and how to help you improve your asanas. I also loved Puja every morning, mantra chanting was the perfect way to start each day. Apart from that there is also the option to have food included in your package. The meals are to be consumed in Soul Kitchen which is just above the yoga hall. The food is really delicious and it’s convenient not to have to look around for food in the short breaks. Also it’s a good option to get to know each other better. All in all I had a great experience with Om Shanti Om Yoga School and will definitely return one day in the future. Thank you for everything!

This was a very poor quality teacher training course. I have been waiting to do my teacher training until I though I was prepared physically, mentally, and philosophically, reading, studying, and practicing yoga. This course barely scratched the surface of what I already knew and was basically a joke and I felt disrespectful. It might be good if you aren’t very into yoga already and just need a basic course. The philosophies practiced were not taught, I was afraid for some of the students because of the alignment and asanas being practiced and they were put in for the photo op. Classes were always late, we did not get our full 200 hours of teachings, and questions couldn’t or just weren’t answered because they didn’t take the time to understand them or just didn’t understand and breezed over it. Also a very frustrating factor was that there were ‘yoga vacationers’ or week long students coming into our class as well as 100 hour students and 200 hour students starting at odd times throughout out course. This meant that none of us got the full experience, new students were thrown in at odd times, asking questions and being confused on what we were covering, wasting our time, and their own as well. It was disrespectful and made this special experience less special. A lesson in getting over expectations and making the experience what I could. I ended up skipping our frustrating, slow, afternoon asana classes, and just paying for my own drop ins at other schools in rishikesh. Dinesh made no effort to get to know us and wasn’t even present for most of the experience. Maybe they just overextended themselves for my class, but the hall would be filled with thirty people at times, super overcrowded, it could hold Maybe 20 and still be full, also it would smell like toilet and or food, the mats and carpet were gross. Not a loving, giving environment, but after the money. They wouldn’t turn anybody away, which is great and nice, but no other school in rishikesh would take a student part way through a course and interrupt it. ( I asked around to try to change courses.) If you are a yoga beginner, sure, you will get a good into to yoga and won’t be able to see through the facade. If you want to truly deepen your practice do not go here, you will be in tears. I do not like making a negative post and putting this energy out here but I want to save others from my frustration and disappointment. One last complaint, Dinesh would use the yoga philosophy to manipulate students. I deeply believe in all of these, the use of energy, positivity, so seeing this done with self serving intentions was so saddening. India was amazing and I loved my time and experience but it was in spite of om shanti om, not because of.

We are traveling around India for 3 months and decided to do a 7 Day Yoga Retreat in Rishikesh. Priya and Dinesh were instantly welcoming, and the week offered us a range of yoga, anatomy and Ayurveda classes, as well as trips to the Beetle Ashram, waterfall and temples at sunrise. The classical morning yoga and Paranayama (breathing exercises) were perfect to wake up to, alongside the chanting and a cup of lemon and ginger tea. We all really enjoyed the more energetic Hatha yoga in the afternoon, and the Sunday laughing yoga session. The group had a great family feel, everyone got involved to help one another. As beginners we found all the teachers gave us good explanations and modifications for all the exercises we undertook. On our final evening we did a dance/movement meditation class which was great fun, and the most rewarding meditation we’ve done. The food for the week was provided by Soul Kitchen, it was AMAZING! Loads of variety of veggie food and juices, homemade and served with a smile (the food was the best we’ve had in India!) We joined a group completing the 200 hour TTC, on week 3 of their program. The 3rd week was perfect for us, but we maybe wouldn’t advise joining on week 4, as that’s when the 200 hour group have their exams, and the program has a different timetable. Thank you for a great week! We’ll drop in if we’re in Rishikesh again 🙂

In February 2017 I spent in India discovering how people live happily and satisfied until the age of 100 and more. I was waking up at 6am every day with no problem (i don’t know how), eating almost (!) no chocolate, practiced yoga and listened to the classes of great teachers with open ears and mouth. It was an unforgettable experience!
These guys know how to do it! They do it with heart and I am still surprised how much knowledge about life they have. I am enriched for a lot of new knowledge that I cannot wait to share with others. I definitely recommend this school to everyone who wants to deepen the practice of yoga and also to get know him/herself better.
