About School

Swami Vivekananda Yoga and Meditation School was founded in the year 2009 by Yogi Mohan Badhani. The school is located in Laxman Jhula, Rishikesh. Mr Mohan is working with the aim of ‘expansion of yoga and meditation knowledge worldwide’. He was earlier worked with 24 different yoga schools as a social participator and has extensive experience of teaching yoga.

The school offers high-quality yogic asana practices, pranayama and meditation based on Swami Vivekananda techniques, short terms-long terms yoga courses and daily drop-in classes to energize and rejuvenate the body, mind and soul.

 

Location:

The school is located near the holy river Ganges at Laxman Jhula, Rishikesh. Daily necessity items, ATM and other services are easily available as the school is situated near the main market of the area. From the school, you can enjoy the sight of the divine river Ganges.

Main Tapovan-Badrinath highway can be reached on foot from the school.

Please ensure that you have read the directions carefully. If you book through us, we will drop you at the school. If you are approaching the school otherwise, please arrive at Laxman Jhoola Rishikesh and call Mr Mohan to guide you for further directions. 

Yoga Hall:

The Yoga hall is located in the main Laxman Jhoola market area. The yoga hall is non A.C. and can accommodate maximum 20-25 practicing students at a time.

Class size:

The class size varies and can swing from as low as 8 students per batch to as high as 40 students.

Payment and cancellation:

You can reserve your seat after paying the advance amount. The advance payment is refundable if the cancellation is done before one week of the course start date. There are no refunds if the cancellation is done in the preceding week of course start date.

You have to pay the remaining amount directly at the school. The school accepts fees in cash/ credit card at the school. All major currencies are accepted at the school.

Do’s and don’ts:
  • No smoking.
  • No alcohol or any other intoxicating substance consumption.
  • Students are expected to check out the day after the completion of the course. Extra stay will be charged.
  • Check out time is 12:00 PM.

About the course:

Two hundred Hours Yoga teacher training program is designed for students who wish to stay and learn for 28 days/ 4 weeks at the institute. The course comprises of: Traditional Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Meditation, Anatomy and Philosophy.

Class schedule:

The classes start at 6:30 AM. The whole course is divided in four weeks. The class schedule of every week is different but fixed and followed till the end of every week. Please note that there may be minor changes in the class timings, and such changes, when occurred, will be intimated to the students in advance.

Founder/ Yoga Teacher

​Yogi Mohan is the founder, director and chief yoga, pranayama and philosophy teacher at Swami Vivekananda Yoga and Meditation school. Yogi Mohan was from a middle-class family. The most of the villagers in his village were dependent​ on agriculture.
Agriculture means ‘Rich in the food but poor in money’. Simply, they ate healthy and balanced yogic food since childhood but they never spent money on useless things like toys.
Mohan has more challenges than other children since childhood which made him stronger and inspired him to connect with nature. ​

Yogi Rajan

Ashtanga Yoga Teacher

  • Learned from- Mysore ​

Yogi Rajan belongs to Rishikesh and expert in Ashtanga yoga in Mysore style. He practiced yoga and meditation since his childhood seeing ancient sages on the banks of river Ganga. Rishikesh is known as the “world capital of yoga”, it is not easy to escape with lightish knowledge of Rishikesh. He wore the habiliment of yoga because he strongly believes and feels its natural benefits. Rajan is a confident, helpful, humble and occupational yoga teacher. Yogi Rajan followed Ashtanga style of yoga doing daily arduous but fruitful yoga postures and breathing techniques. Yogi Rajan believes that “Yoga is the best practice, the rest is the circus”. Yoga is the systemic way to live a healthy life.​​

Yogi Shubham Bhandari

Hatha Yoga Teacher

​​​Yogi Shubham is one of them who first got inspired himself and then is inspiring others. He has a true experience and feels of yoga while in his childhood the doctor advised him to do yoga regularly for increasing immunity powers. He triumphed on his weakness doing yoga and continuing it. Now, he is a professional in this field. He has been focusing on classical Hatha yoga techniques for last so many years. Shubham believes that “yoga is 1% theory and 99% practices”. Yoga can not be learned watching yoga videos and pictures, it is only can be learned by a complete living yogic life.​ You should not learn yoga, you should understand it. If you can understand it, you will solve the question “how to learn yoga”?​

Yogi Himanshu Badhani

Meditation Teacher

Yogi Himanshu is a meditation teacher as well as an inspiration for those who are searching the soul within. He inspired so many western and eastern students sharing his knowledge of meditation (dhyana). For him, meditation is the source of energy. Unseen but very powerful energy. He believes that “quiet the mind and the soul will speak”.
As everyone, He was exploring the unseen inward restorative powers within his mind and body. He found that the meditation is the bridge between body and soul. Meditation is the answer to unsolvable questions. The meditation started the hunger of learning in him and he found the way to wisdom.

Yogi Mukesh Bhandari

Hatha Flow Teacher

Yogi Mukesh Bhandari is a professional Hatha flow yoga teacher who was earlier studious in Vivekananda Yoga School. Mukesh is also an assistant yoga teacher with our experienced yoga teachers who help to give personal attention to students. Mukesh favorite quote is: “Inhale the future, exhale the past”. He is a meek yoga teacher who believes living in the present time. He belongs to Rishikesh (the world capital of yoga) and he is a keen learner of yoga since childhood. He met to Mr. Mohan a few years ago and he had applied for learning yoga. He worked hard on asanas and now He is a teacher in the Vivekananda Yoga School.

Geeta​ ​Bhandari
  • Age – 24
  • Specialty – Mantra Chanting

Geeta Bhandari is professional mantra chanting who believes that the sacred sounds of mantra or praying can lift someone to higher stages. She believes: You can gain anything you want but you have to pray in front of God or say the thank you for your existence.
Every time on mantras, the conclusion is saying thanks to the supreme power God. This may be with a musical way but human is saying thank you to God.
She said, “The sacred sound – mantras are transmigrated into my heart since childhood when I woke up listening to Om Mantra, Shanti Mantra and others. I liked them as Indian Classical Music but I did not understand the meaning. The time dragged me into Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta and Ramcharitmanas to search the right meanings. Reading these books, I got inspired to connect to yoga and meditation forever”.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga teaches the practice of different asanas. It is the branch of Indian philosophy that directs not only towards building a sound body and mind but also towards achieving inner peace and happiness. Asanas or postures in Hatha Yoga strengthen different parts of body and develop the balance of the body.

Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga, the yoga of Eight Limbs was given by Yoga Maharshi Patanjali. In his philosophy, the eight spiritual practices can lead a person towards self-realization and ultimate happiness.
The eight limbs are: Yama (Moral Codes), Niyama (Self-Purification), Asana (Posture), Pranayama (Breath Control), Pratyahara (Sense Control), Dharana (Concentration), Dhyana (Meditative Absorption) and Samadhi (Absorption into Universe).

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa denotes a flowing, dynamic form of yoga, connected to breath or pranayama in which yoga and mudra transitions are embodied as linkages within and between asana.Vinyasa is also employed as a noun to describe the sequence of poses that are performed between Adho Mukha Svanasanas or Downward Facing Dog as part of a Surya Namaskara or Sun Salutation sequence.

I must say, this was one of the most amazing places I have practiced yoga. I have been practicing for 8 years. I have traveled all over the world and really connected with the teachings at this school and the passionate teachers.

Needless to say, it changed my outlook and my life to know that there were teachers and students who took their yoga practice serious.

SIMPLE BUT STRONG.

Not only did attending classes for a little over a week keep me feeling strong and dedicated, but I felt that I was much more in tune with my own body and my own practice after leaving India.

I will be back here, to practice and to learn but in the meantime I will always carry the memories of the dedicated teachers and the postures that changed me into a more positive and uplifting person.
